MICRO_MAPP From September 29, 2023 to March 16, 2024 at Age of Union. A work by Mélanie O'Bomsawin "Là où se pose la lumière"

"Là où se pose la lumière" is a series of micro-projections on stone exploring the persistence of memory in the form of light. For the W8banakiak (Abenaki) people, stones are the bearers of memory, enabling us to perceive the stories of those who were there before, and pass them on to future generations. In the exhibition, the use of light reveals and illuminates the richness hidden in the mineral memory of the stones collected by the artist, while allowing us to reflect on our relationship with the environment.

Publisher, new media artist, tinkerer, geek and video artist, Mélanie O'Bomsawin (elle) works with video in all its forms. Through installations, screenings and documentaries, she explores her connection with artists past and those to come. Questions of identity, memory and knowledge transfer are central to her practice. Mélanie is of W8banaki (Abenaki) and Québécois descent, and lives in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyaang/Montréal.
